1. Agreement and operator
These Terms form a binding agreement between you and the operator of the Get a Murshid platform (collectively, “Get a Murshid,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). “Platform” means our websites, applications, communications, payment flows, and related services. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
If you use the Platform for an organization, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organization. Additional written terms may apply to a specific promotion or service; where they conflict, the more specific terms control for that service.
2. What Get a Murshid provides
Get a Murshid is a marketplace that helps people seeking guidance (“Seekers”) discover and purchase services from people offering guidance (“Murshids”). Services may include written answers, private audio or video calls, multi-class mentorship programs, and webinars.
Unless we expressly say otherwise, Murshids are independent providers—not our employees, agents, or representatives. We may review profiles and credentials, but a verification badge is not a guarantee of quality, outcome, licensing, identity, or suitability. Seekers remain responsible for deciding whether a Murshid and a service fit their needs.
3. Accounts and eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering a contract.
- You must provide accurate, current information and keep your profile, role, pricing, and schedule current.
- You may not impersonate anyone, misstate credentials, create deceptive accounts, or transfer your account.
- You are responsible for activity under your account and must promptly report suspected unauthorized access.
- You must protect authentication credentials and may not share private meeting links or access tokens.
A person may use different Platform roles only where permitted. Role selection does not create professional qualifications or exempt anyone from laws that apply to their services.
4. Marketplace services and responsibilities
Seekers
Seekers must provide enough accurate context for the requested guidance, attend scheduled services on time, communicate respectfully, and avoid requesting unlawful, dangerous, deceptive, or professionally restricted assistance. A purchase does not guarantee a particular result.
Murshids
Murshids must accurately describe their experience, pricing, availability, languages, and services; respond within displayed deadlines; attend accepted bookings; protect Seeker confidentiality; and deliver the service with reasonable care. Murshids must disclose material conflicts and must not claim qualifications or guaranteed outcomes they do not have.
Scheduling and delivery
Times shown on the Platform may be converted using account or device time zones. Users should verify the final date, time, duration, and meeting format before purchase. Meeting links are for registered participants only. Internet, device, or third-party provider failures may affect delivery; contact us promptly if they do.
5. Payments, fees, taxes, and Murshid payouts
- Unless clearly stated otherwise, prices and charges are in U.S. dollars.
- Seekers authorize the displayed charge, including any clearly disclosed discount, fee, or tax.
- Payments and Murshid onboarding/payouts are processed through Stripe. We do not receive complete card numbers.
- Murshid earnings may be held while a service is pending, during the stated protection period, or while a refund, chargeback, safety report, or dispute is reviewed.
- Murshids are responsible for their own tax registration, reporting, and payment obligations unless law requires us to withhold or report.
We may correct pricing errors before fulfillment and reverse payments associated with fraud, duplicate transactions, failed service creation, or unauthorized activity. Attempts to bypass Platform payment flows or manipulate fees may result in withheld payouts and account action.
6. Cancellations, no-shows, refunds, and disputes
Refund eligibility is determined by the service record and timestamps maintained by the Platform. When a refund is approved, it is returned to the original payment method. Banks and card networks may take additional time to display it. We send payment and refund confirmations where supported.
| Service | Standard protection |
|---|---|
| Paid written question | A full refund is issued if the Murshid does not answer within the response window shown at purchase (currently seven days). Once a substantive answer is delivered, concerns are handled through the dispute process rather than the unanswered-question refund. |
| Private call | A Seeker receives a full refund when cancelling at least 24 hours before the scheduled start. A later Seeker cancellation or Seeker no-show is normally non-refundable. A Murshid cancellation or confirmed Murshid no-show receives a full refund. |
| Mentorship program | A Seeker receives a full refund when leaving at least 24 hours before the first class. Later withdrawal is normally non-refundable. If the Murshid cancels the program, affected Seekers receive a full refund. |
| Webinar | A Seeker receives a full refund when cancelling at least 24 hours before the start. Later withdrawal is normally non-refundable. If the Murshid cancels, paid registrants receive a full refund. Free registrations have no monetary refund. |
If attendance evidence is incomplete or conflicting, we may hold funds and conduct a manual review. You must submit disputes honestly and provide requested information. Filing an abusive or knowingly false chargeback, no-show report, or refund claim violates these Terms. Nothing here limits non-waivable refund or consumer rights under applicable law.
7. User content and intellectual property
You retain ownership of content you create, such as profiles, questions, answers, attachments, reviews, webinar materials, and messages (“User Content”). You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, format, transmit, and display User Content only as reasonably needed to operate, secure, improve, and promote the Platform, subject to your visibility choices and our Privacy Policy.
A paid question and its answer stay private to the Seeker and the Murshid by default. An answer may appear on a Murshid’s public profile only where the Seeker allowed public sharing when submitting the question, and only once the Murshid also chooses to publish it. A Murshid cannot publish a question the Seeker kept private, and the Platform enforces this rather than relying on the Murshid. A published answer is shown without the Seeker’s name; it is not otherwise edited, so it may still contain details the Seeker included, and a Seeker who allowed sharing should keep that in mind. Either party may have a published answer removed. You must have the rights and permissions needed for anything you upload and must not violate privacy, confidentiality, copyright, trademark, or other rights.
The Platform software, branding, interface, and original materials belong to us or our licensors. These Terms give you a limited, personal, revocable right to use the Platform—not ownership of it.
8. Conduct, safety, and professional boundaries
You must follow our Community Guidelines. In particular, do not harass, exploit, threaten, discriminate, solicit off-platform payment, expose private information, manipulate reviews, distribute malware, evade safeguards, or use the Platform for unlawful activity.
Get a Murshid is not an emergency service and does not itself provide medical, mental-health, legal, financial, immigration, or other licensed professional advice. Murshids must remain within their actual competence and clearly distinguish personal guidance from licensed professional services. In an emergency, contact local emergency services or an appropriate qualified professional.
9. Reviews, investigations, suspension, and termination
Reviews must describe genuine experiences. We may reject or remove reviews that are fraudulent, retaliatory, irrelevant, abusive, incentivized without disclosure, or otherwise violate our policies.
We may investigate suspected violations and preserve relevant records. Depending on severity, we may warn a user, limit features, remove content, cancel a listing, hold a payout, reverse an improper transaction, suspend or terminate an account, or report conduct to a payment provider or lawful authority. Immediate action may be taken where needed to protect people, funds, evidence, or the Platform. Users may contact us to request review of an enforcement decision.
You may stop using the Platform and request account deactivation. Provisions that by their nature should survive—such as payment obligations, licenses already needed to operate completed transactions, disclaimers, liability limits, and dispute terms—remain effective.
10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Platform is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not warrant uninterrupted access, a particular Murshid, a particular outcome, or the accuracy of User Content. We are not responsible for independent advice, conduct, promises, or materials supplied by users or third-party services.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Get a Murshid and its personnel will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or lost profits, data, goodwill, or opportunities. Our aggregate liability arising from the Platform will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid to us for the service giving rise to the claim during the preceding six months or USD 100. These limits do not apply where prohibited, including liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
11. Disputes and governing rules
Before filing a formal claim, please contact us with the account email, transaction reference, and a concise description. We will try to resolve the issue informally. The laws and courts that apply depend on the legal location of the Platform operator and any mandatory consumer protections in your place of residence. Nothing in these Terms removes rights or remedies that cannot be waived under applicable law.
12. Changes, severability, and contact
We may update these Terms to reflect product, legal, safety, or operational changes. We will update the date above and provide additional notice where a material change or applicable law requires it. Continued use after the effective date of revised Terms means you accept them, except where separate consent is required.
If a provision is unenforceable, it will be limited to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining terms will continue. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. These Terms, the Privacy Policy, Community Guidelines, and applicable service-specific terms are the entire agreement about the Platform.
Questions, notices, and complaints can be submitted through our contact page.
